The Fostoria City Council on Monday completed the second reading of an ordinance to place a five-year, 1% municipal income-tax renewal before city voters and also completed a second reading of a resolution setting the election date for Nov. 4, 2025.
During the meeting a council member asked whether the city was under any time constraints to file for the ballot. The finance director said there is a deadline: "We have to file it by August." The meeting record also includes a comment that the current levy does not expire until 2026, meaning the city would have other opportunities to place the measure on a future ballot if it chose not to file this year.
