Curriculum and instruction items approved included administrative interns, affiliation agreements with Marist and Stony Brook University for clinical placements, and curriculum writing projects including a proposed fourth‑grade STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) class that will be application‑ and project‑based and will include an individual research project for each fourth grader; the program will be application based and intended to be enriching for all students.
Donations accepted included: $2,000 from the Suffolk County chapter of the New York State School Facilities Association to the Ward Melville Scholarship Fund; $900 from John F. to the Jody F. scholarship; $500 from the 3 Village Bunny Brigade for prom/yearbook assistance; $7,750 from the Ward Melville High School Fishing Club to the scholarship fund; $200 from Elizabeth Forrese; $500 from Tammy White; $6,000 from the Society for Science and Regeneron to support Regeneron Science Talent Search scholars; and $10,000 from Suffolk Transportation Service (annual scholarships and team awards). The board also approved surplus equipment disposals and personnel appointments and resignations listed on the consent agenda.
