Commission approves CGI digital agreement and AT&T E911 upgrade contract for new radios, delays mutual-aid only briefly

Walton County commissioners approved two technology-related agreements and handled a mutual-aid update during their June meeting.

The board approved a CGI Digital community-showcase video program. Staff said CGI will produce a community video to help rejuvenate the county website and aid recruiting efforts; CGI will assume production costs and fund the program through ad revenue, so the county faces no direct charge.

Separately, the commission approved an AT&T master agreement to update equipment and software for the county 9-1-1 center so it can work with new radios that include Wi-Fi and cellular capability. County staff said upgrading consoles and related infrastructure was necessary after the county ordered new radios for public-safety personnel; one board member requested an exact price before final vote. Staff later provided figures in the meeting record indicating year 1 cost of $21,509.14 with additional annual amounts in subsequent years; the board approved the contract contingent on county attorney review of the agreement terms.

The board also discussed a mutual-aid agreement with Rockdale County for fire services. Commissioners briefly tabled the item to confirm details, then returned it to the agenda and approved the mutual-aid update. Staff said the agreement formalizes existing mutual response practice in a coverage gap area and that each jurisdiction maintains liability for its own personnel.

All votes recorded in the meeting for these contracts and agreements were unanimous.
