Resident asks trustees to explain committee appointment process after not receiving assignments

During the public appearances portion of the June 2 meeting, resident Mark Spahos questioned the board about the process by which volunteers are appointed to village committees and asked the board to place his qualifications on the record after he said he was not selected for any committee positions.
Spahos identified himself as a UW–Madison graduate, a military veteran, American Legion chaplain and local business owner and described experience in management of housing and care facilities, technology and logistics. He said he had applied to multiple committees and — after conversations following the recent appointment meeting — believed a staff representative stated she would see if a committee could be found for him but that he received no follow‑up. He asked the board to note his application and qualifications on the public record.
Trustees did not take action on the comment during the meeting. Staff and trustees later continued with the posted agenda items.
