Tinley Park trustees move petition for Class A/B liquor license toward full board

Hannah (staff member) told trustees that the petitioner, Danny Papacy, is acquiring the Station LLC, that a lease is in place and that the applicant intends the location to remain the Station for “about the next 18 to 24 months.” Hannah said staff and legal have discussed possible code approaches, including a temporary AV (video gaming) license and returning to the board if the business later requests a different liquor classification or for the gaming portion to transfer.
Trustees said they heard commitments from the petitioner but that some assurances were not yet formalized in writing. Trustee Shaw said he had concerns about approving items based on future promises, citing past developments where projected follow-through had not occurred. Trustee Brady and Trustee Mueller said they supported moving the item forward because of the building improvements planned. Trustee Colleen Sullivan moved the matter to the full Village Board; the roll-call vote recorded Trustees Brady, Mahoney, Mueller, Shaw and Sullivan as voting yes and the motion carried.
Hannah told the committee that the petitioner intends to begin improvements earlier rather than wait to fully convert the business, and that the applicant is opening another restaurant in another community before completing the transition in Tinley Park. Trustees declined to take final action at the Committee of the Whole and directed staff to place the matter on the next Village Board agenda for consideration.
A petitioner or applicant may still be asked to provide additional documents to the board before final approval; Hannah said the board could request updated information if needed.
