County staff and the sheriff’s office described the need to have a single, powered, secure location for items such as the command trailer, BearCat, airboat, snowmobiles, ATVs, and other emergency response gear. Commissioners discussed alternatives including building a temporary cold-storage structure on county land or accelerating the permanent impound project; several said they would not support an expensive short-term build if it did not fit into a long-term plan.
The motion authorizes the administration to submit the bid for the city space at $2,000 per month for one year; the board directed county staff to continue work on the permanent impound design and to return with financing scenarios for construction and bonding. Commissioners asked staff to track the interim rental’s utility and operating costs and to use the temporary location to inform the architecture and layout of a permanent facility.
