Buildings & Grounds outlines summer projects; board approves paving bid for $49,408

Joe, representing the Buildings & Grounds department, reviewed completed work and planned summer projects at the June 17 Londonderry School Board meeting, highlighting a new pump house, early use of a synthetic turf installation and a transition to a shared ticketing system.
"Already, we've really noticed, increase in water pressure, efficiency," Joe said of the new pump house, which staff said now offers remote monitoring and automatic shutoff to reduce equipment failures. He also described a turf system the district was able to use before its scheduled date; staff said crisp field lines and reduced setup time have saved labor.
The department will move its facilities ticketing to Incident IQ, the same platform used by the district technology department. Joe said the change should consolidate systems and save about $7,000 a year. Planned summer projects include a partial roof replacement at North School entry/office area, elevator/fire alarm upgrades at a school listed in the materials, bathroom floor epoxy work, exterior door replacements, HVAC work in the high school weight room and middle school office, targeted carpet and flooring replacements districtwide, and an emergency‑lighting upgrade to self‑testing LED fixtures that report faults.
Board members asked about calendar and event booking details in the new ticketing system and whether it can consolidate multiple calendars. Joe said he would investigate calendar integration during rollout and schedule broader training this summer.
On a separate agenda item, the board moved to award a paving contract to Petro Paving to address safety hazards on walkways and behind the press box. The board received three bids; Petro Paving was the low bidder at $49,408. The motion to award the contract passed 4‑0 after a motion by a board member and a second.
No petitions or formal changes to policy resulted from the presentation. Board members praised the department's work and requested a summer walkthrough to review completed projects.
