"The only real fix to it that I can see is to remove the tree at this point," Vine said, adding that the city would grind the stump below the surface and allow sidewalk repairs afterward.
Commissioner Victor Farias made the motion to remove the tree; Commissioner Amber Burns seconded. The board voted in favor; the motion carried. Commissioners did not add conditions beyond the routine coordination with staff.
The tree removal was discussed as a maintenance and public-safety matter: board members said they preferred to avoid future sewer or sidewalk damage and noted that removing and stump-grinding would allow the homeowner to repair the pipe and the sidewalk.
