The Warren County Board of Supervisors approved a series of vendor contracts and quotes for building maintenance, cell tower HVAC and generator preventive maintenance during Tuesday’s meeting.
County facilities staff presented multiple agreements. The board approved a scheduled maintenance agreement with Excel Mechanical for the Warren County Administration Building at 301 N. Buxton and a separate Excel Mechanical contract for quarterly HVAC inspections at the West Annex. Supervisors approved those renewals by roll call.
On cell-tower HVAC service, supervisors approved a contract with Excel Mechanical for scheduled maintenance of HVAC equipment at tower sites. Facilities staff said Cunningham and other local firms provided quotes; the board favored staying with a vendor already familiar with county buildings and systems.
The board also considered preventive maintenance proposals for the generators that power emergency cell-tower sites. Staff said some tower generators are Generac units and noted prior service under Motorola. After discussion about annual versus semiannual service and vendor experience with Generac programming, supervisors approved a service agreement with H.M. Craig (annual/semiannual package selected in motion). The contract authorizes regular inspections and the ability to call the vendor for repairs; supervisors emphasized the importance of keeping emergency communications generators functional.
The board deferred a decision on county landscape and snow-removal contracts to allow staff to present a direct apples-to-apples comparison of bids from Norwalk Seasonal and Gilbert. Doors and rekeying proposals for the administration building were also discussed; supervisors asked staff to return with additional quotes and a longer-term plan for door automation and badge access.
Why it matters: the approved contracts cover routine building systems and critical infrastructure (cell towers, generators) tied to county operations and 911 communications. Staff said the county’s choices prioritized vendors with existing knowledge of county systems and the capacity for after-hours service.
