The Village of Cross Plains Village Board of Trustees voted to award a $203,464.74 contract to Advanced Building Corporation to construct the H.M. Zander Nature Park pavilion and perform associated site and electrical work, the board said at a special meeting on June 2.
Trustees reviewed five bids. Snyder and Associates prepared the bidding documents and recommended the lowest responsive bidder, Advanced Building Corporation. Andy Newsome, a landscape architect with Snyder and Associates, told the board that electrical services to allow future perimeter path lighting were included in the contract but that the light fixtures themselves are optional.
"We did provide electrical, to service those. So that was included in this business," Newsome said. He added that the light fixtures could be installed later as an optional feature.
Board discussion covered project cost estimates and funding. A project grand total of $514,773 was discussed; trustees noted that a DNR grant will reimburse up to $250,000 and that the Lions are providing the grant match discussed in the meeting. The board also confirmed they had held a pre-construction meeting with the selected contractor and that substantial completion is targeted for Sept. 18.
A trustee moved to award the contract for $203,464.74; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
