Carmel board ratifies Michigan Road waterline easement and approves path easement for Jackie's Catering

The City of Carmel Board of Public Works and Safety on June 4 ratified a corrected easement description for waterline work on North Michigan Road and approved a separate path easement from a local business on 90th Street.
Lane Young, director of utilities, told the board the city previously approved an easement but the legal description listed a 20‑foot easement when the project requires only a 15‑foot easement. The board ratified the corrected description for the waterline easement affecting 9873 and 9893 North Michigan Road, identified in the meeting record as CL West Marketplace LLC. The approval was recorded as Resolution BPW 06‑04‑25‑01.
Separately, staff presented a path easement request for 4306 West 90th Street related to Jackie's Catering. Brad Pease explained that because that segment of 90th Street is within Dodd/Marion County right‑of‑way, the city is taking an easement in lieu of a traditional dedication of land to the city so the public can use the path. The board voted to approve the easement; the owner retains private property ownership while granting the public easement rights recorded in the document.
No public objections were recorded during the meeting and board members voted in favor of both items.
