Wooster council confirms Andrea Uhler as director of law

The Wooster City Council confirmed Andrea Uhler as the city’s director of law by voice vote at its June 2, 2025 meeting after the mayor formally nominated her under the City of Wooster Charter.
The mayor read a nomination memo citing Uhler’s service as deputy director of law since April 2024 and summarizing her prior experience: she worked as an associate attorney at Quitfield, Quitfield & Johnston, Ltd., served as court administrator/staff attorney/mediator for the Wayne County Court of Common Pleas, and was civil chief in the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office advising county boards, officers, local libraries and 16 townships. The memo said Uhler has practiced in Wayne County for more than 12 years and has represented political subdivisions in a range of legal matters.
Council did not require a formal motion to nominate; the president called for a voice vote to confirm. The roll call produced no recorded opposition and the council announced Uhler’s confirmation. Uhler said, “I’m excited for the opportunity, and I look forward to continuing to serve the city and being a member of the team here for everyone.” The mayor reminded the council and the new director that Uhler will serve the entire city: “you’re also our law director, not just the administration’s director of law,” he said.
With confirmation, Uhler will immediately commence duties as director of law, per the nomination memo submitted under City of Wooster Charter Section 4.04.
