Council member Warden, who presented the request on behalf of the utilities department, said price increases have pushed Badger Meter past the $75,000 threshold for the year and the council’s approval is required to continue purchasing equipment and services. “These are equipment and services that we rely on for our utilities department,” Warden said.
Fritz was present to respond to questions about the vendor and service needs. Council member Warden moved to adopt the resolution and was seconded; a roll-call vote recorded unanimous support (Wharton — yes; Myers — yes; Hussain — yes; Gaffey — yes; Abernathy — yes). The resolution allows the utilities department to proceed with purchases from Badger Meter above the $75,000 level for 2025.
The administration said the purchases are budgeted and are for replacement meters and pressure-monitoring services used in routine utility operations.
