The Newnan City Council voted unanimously to extend two one-year on-call contracts with Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) for debris-monitoring and disaster recovery and emergency planning services.
Staff said the contracts originated after the EF-4 tornado that impacted Newnan in 2021 and were initially structured as two one-year agreements with options to extend for up to four additional one-year periods. Because GMC provides on-call services, staff said there is no immediate budgetary cost to extending the agreements; the city pays GMC only when services are called.
Council approved the extensions to remain eligible for GMC’s services during disasters or recovery planning without adding recurring costs unless the city requests assistance. Staff will return to council if GMC services are called and budget authority is required.
