West Seneca redistricting committee recommends shifting students from Clinton and Allendale; board to consider East/West middle-school realignment

A volunteer redistricting committee on Tuesday presented the West Seneca Central School District Board of Education with two principal recommendations aimed at evening up elementary enrollments and relieving space pressures at West Middle School.

The committee, facilitated by Tony Day, executive director of the Western New York Education Service Council, recommended base redistricting at the elementary level — moving roughly 110 students from Clinton Elementary to Northwood Elementary and moving a peninsula neighborhood from Allendale Elementary to Winchester Potters Elementary — and separately recommended a repositioning that would shift a contiguous area of students from West Middle School to East Middle School, with affected students progressing into East High School once they reach high school.

The recommendations were framed as committee proposals, not binding actions; Day repeatedly said the committee’s role was to investigate options and bring recommendations to the board, which retains decision authority.
