Ameren working with county on floodplain remediation at substation, staff says

County staff reported June 3 that Ameren has been responsive to a county notice of a floodplain ordinance violation at a substation site and is working on a remediation plan.
Staff said Ameren engineers provided a concept design intended to achieve a net-zero floodplain impact at the site and that Ameren is pursuing land-rights through a property owner to carry out the plan. County staff said Ameren’s land-acquisition team is pursuing the required land rights and that, depending on the outcome, Ameren will proceed with the concept. If land rights cannot be obtained, staff said the utility will need to consider an alternate remediation approach.
The county staff member said Ameren had been “very responsive” and that staff is comfortable the utility will resolve the violation this summer; staff committed to keep the committee updated as the remediation progresses.
