The Crest Hill City Council approved a master power supply agreement for residential electric aggregation with MC Squared Energy Services LLC and adopted Resolution 1311.
City staff and the city attorney said they reviewed the contract and identified technical differences from earlier versions; the city attorney asked for final legal review before the mayor executes the agreement. The resolution as presented included language approving the agreement "subject to final legal approval."
During discussion, the attorney said he had lined up the contract language for final review and planned to resolve remaining technical issues with MC Squared before execution. The council approved the resolution by roll-call vote.
Council members raised operational concerns such as the accuracy of outreach letters, proper letterhead and the presence of third-party solicitors canvassing neighborhoods; police and city staff noted they would address reports of aggressive door-to-door solicitation.
Legal note: The city attorney highlighted differences between contract drafts and said staff would work with MC Squared to address those items. Council approved the master supply agreement subject to final legal review and asked staff to ensure customer-facing communications are clear and properly branded before rollout.
