Board approves Student Success & Support ad hoc committee to advise on priorities; members will solicit public input

The School District of Beloit Board of Education on June 3 authorized formation of a Student Success and Support ad hoc committee charged with gathering research‑based recommendations and community input to advise district priorities.
Board members Juan Romero and Joanne Ryu, who helped craft the proposed charge, said the ad hoc will solicit input from teachers, students, parents and community members and will submit a final advisory report to the Teaching, Learning, Equity & Pupil Services (TLE & PS) committee. The board approved the committee’s formation by voice vote.
Board members asked that meeting start times be accessible to working community members (no earlier than 5 p.m.), that minutes be published even if meetings are not recorded, and that the ad hoc coordinate its work with the district’s forthcoming strategic‑plan process. The superintendent’s office said it will publish a volunteer interest form and suggested members can submit names to the board for consideration; the district will post committee volunteer information on its website.
