The Tomball ISD Board of Trustees approved selecting Huckabee Architects under RFQ 993-25 to serve as architect for the new Tomball Intermediate School and authorized the superintendent to finalize contract negotiations using Bond 2025 funds.
Trustees discussed prior experience with Huckabee on local projects, including work related to Creekside Park and West High School, and said Huckabee scored highly under the district's evaluation rubric. One trustee said the vote against Huckabee was based on a $5,000 contribution the firm made to a political action committee that supported the bond; that trustee said the donation, not the firm's professional qualifications, was the basis for the 'no' vote.
Other trustees cited Huckabee's track record and familiarity with the district's needs as reasons to proceed. The motion carried; the board chair asked trustees opposed to confirm their votes, and the selection passed.
