During discussion, Alderman Bassi asked, “How are you going to monitor that the alcohol consumption stays in the park and does not leave?” Parks event staff (name not specified) replied, “On that particular evening, all Marine Retro Rentals, the container bar that's on-site, they'll have staff that's on each end to monitor that people don't leave the park with those. We'll also have for these two concerts...parks and rec staff” monitoring the grounds.
Council members raised a prior concern about generator noise during food-truck setup. Staff said the park was designed with electric hookups for food trucks and that the prior generator event lasted about 15 minutes while a truck plugged into power; staff said the issue had been addressed. Staff also said they will close the parking lot, line up food trucks to use the electric stations, and have Parks & Recreation staff on site for monitoring.
Several aldermen encouraged residents to attend the concerts and support the community events. The council approved the special use and directed staff to ensure monitoring and vendor operations as described.
