U.S. says 7,000,000 meals delivered to Gaza as IDF investigates deadly incident

"I think we are now at 7,000,000 meals distributed to date," Sam said, adding that distribution in a war zone is "imperfect" and will be refined as local partners learn from operations on the ground. Sam repeated that the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation is "an independent organization" and "does not receive U.S. government funding."
Sam urged caution when interpreting initial reports and said the department distinguishes between confirmed incidents and earlier reports it described as debunked. He told reporters that the IDF had said it was investigating the latest incident and that the State Department was "watching that report, an investigation, and, will keep you advised."
Reporters pressed on whether the recent violence would pause deliveries or change U.S. support for the distribution mechanism; Sam declined to comment on operational details, saying decisions about field security and distribution are made by those on the ground.
The department also repeated standard travel guidance for Americans in affected areas and encouraged enrollment in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program at step.state.gov to receive updates and instructions.
