Board hears solar production report; district to provide monthly and annual generation figures

The Brentwood School Board on June 2 received an update on the district’s solar array showing daily, monthly and annual production reports and a start-of-season total the presenter gave as 92.46 megawatt-hours since the system began recording in March.
Staff said the board can be given monthly production printouts and an annual summary. The presenter demonstrated the dashboard’s daily kilowatt-hours and noted the system’s output has been below projected lines while the district has experienced frequent rain. Staff offered to add board members to the monitoring platform so they can receive data directly.
Board members asked whether the district tracks generation against consumption and if the system is expected to cover the district’s usage during the school year. Staff said the array was not predicted to cover all in-school usage but that summer months — when buildings are mostly unoccupied — should generate net energy that can be banked or sold back to the grid to offset costs during the school year.
Staff also reported they applied for a solar rebate with documentation provided by Barrington Power and will follow up on the tax-credit/rebate status; they said a formal rebate application had been filed. The presenter suggested sharing comparative production-vs.-usage numbers starting in September and to include monthly production figures in future board packages.
No board action was taken; the presentation was an informational update and a request to provide ongoing production and usage comparisons.
