Dickson County commissioners on June 2 approved a revenue-anticipation note to complete work on the planning-and-zoning office and build a new archives space, funding the shortfall with a short-term loan repaid from recurring court-derived revenue.
The mayor said planning and zoning is nearly finished in the downstairs space and the archives work is roughly $140,000 short of completion. The mayor said the archive work will be paid from a revenue line tied to court fees (about $40,000 per year) that the county has used for these improvements and that no general-tax funds are being tapped for the repayment.
“The revenue to pay off this note will come from the money we get from courts on that court,” the mayor said, adding that once the archives work is finished, no major work is expected for several years. Commissioner Lehi moved the item, Commissioner Williams seconded it, and commissioners approved the note by voice vote.
