County moves to consider buying 6 acres beside planned convenience center for $150,000

Dickson County commissioners on June 2 moved to place on the June 23 regular agenda a potential purchase of six acres of land located behind the planned convenience center, with the county’s real-estate agent negotiating a contract price of $150,000.
The county mayor said the parcel adjoins the highway department property and the convenience-center site, and that buying it would add operational flexibility despite some contour issues. The mayor said the property had been listed at $179,000 but the county’s negotiated contract price is $150,000. Highway and solid-waste staff flagged the parcel as usable, and county staff said the county had invested about $6 million into adjacent highway department property.
Commissioner McElwain seconded the motion to bring the purchase to the regular session; commissioners voted in favor on a voice vote. The mayor noted the contract must close by July 1 if the commission approves the purchase at the June 23 meeting and offered site visits for commissioners before that meeting.
