Staff reports multiple sign violations; committee asks staff to pursue removals while noting federally required project signage

Committee members asked staff to proceed with notices where signs violate the guidelines. Staff noted one sign associated with a federally funded sewer project appears to be required by the terms of the federal funding and that staff would consult the town manager and the relevant project manager before issuing any enforcement action for that sign. Members also discussed large for‑rent signs on Center Street (one item flagged by a commissioner), and staff said they had not sent notices for every reported item while they investigated ownership and status.

Next steps: staff will follow up on the North Mill freestanding post, send enforcement notices for neon and illuminated signs that appear noncompliant, continue inspections of flagged sites (Old South Road, Cape Cod 5 signs) and confer with the town manager and project leads about federally conditioned signage on the sewer project before issuing notices for that item.
