Elementary leadership students tell board about inclusion and campus activities

Students described work in small leadership groups. One student said their “belonging group” discussed how to make classmates feel comfortable and helped create posters and rules promoting inclusion. Another described designing posters for special events and planning activities for the spring fling. A student from “Playground Pals” explained how the group teaches children different games such as beanbag toss and basketball.
Superintendent Dr. Khan praised the students’ work and noted leadership requires extra time and responsibility: “I am so impressed with each of you. First of all, everyone standing up here is a leader, and leaders are influencers.” A board member asked the students how they would encourage a friend to join; students replied with reasons including teacher encouragement, wanting to help others, and gaining practice.
Board members thanked the students and emphasized appreciation for teachers, principals and parents who supported the program. The presentation concluded with the board noting the value of seeing students in action and the district’s support for leadership initiatives.
