Board approves renaming of Anderson Village State Preschool to Moreland Child Development Center

Staff said the change is procedural and is required by state licensure rules because the district is beginning to integrate students between Anderson Village and the Payne preschool site. A presenter explained, “It’s licensure with the state. So that’s why we’re doing this here. We are beginning this process of bringing our students together from the state preschool and our Payne Preschool, which is actually their license currently is the Moreland Child Development Center.”
The presenter clarified that the formal name used for state paperwork will be Moreland Child Development Center while the district will brand and market the program as “Moreland Preschool.” The presenter noted that the Payne site’s sign already refers to Moreland Child Development Center.
A trustee moved and another seconded the resolution. The board approved the name change by voice vote; trustees said “Aye” and the motion carried.
Staff did not read or attach a specific licensure application number in the meeting record. The board directed staff to proceed with the licensure consolidation and to use Moreland Preschool in outreach materials.
