Council approves conveyance and quitclaim for sewer easements to Wisconsin DOT at State Highway 100 intersection

The Common Council on June 3 adopted a resolution approving a conveyance of rights and a quitclaim deed and statement of non-reimbursement to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for public sanitary sewer easements at the intersection of State Highway 100, East Ryan Road and South Shepherd Avenue.
Assistant City Administrator and City Engineer Matt Sullivan explained that when WisDOT widens intersections or makes signal improvements it commonly requests relinquishment of easement rights so the DOT can adjust grading or install infrastructure. Sullivan said city utility staff, including the general manager and utility engineer, reviewed the request and had "no concerns in regards to relinquishment" for the easements tied to the planned intersection work.
The council adopted the resolution by roll call with all members present voting aye. The resolution was described as subject to technical correction prior to recording; staff said the action is a standard step to enable the DOT's project and does not transfer ownership of public sanitary sewer infrastructure to the DOT. No fiscal exchange or reimbursement was described in the meeting minutes.
