Jonathan Glover, communications manager for the city of Auburn, said the city will mail the summer issue of Auburn Magazine to Auburn residents around June 20 and that the cover story profiles the Auburn Public Schools Foundation, a nonprofit that supports classroom materials and school programs.
The foundation appears throughout the issue because it funds district activities across grade levels, including materials for classroom science projects, student field trips and a mural project at Auburn High School, Glover said. "If you live at Auburn, you get it for free. It's sent right to you," he added.
Glover and communications assistant Chester Boyd described reporting that accompanied the story: staff members accompanied a group of first graders on a short Woodland Park Zoo field trip funded by the foundation and photographed students during the visit. The magazine also includes features on the Hops and Crops Festival, the farmers market, and the city’s summer events calendar.
Glover credited city designer Kevin McCoy with the magazine’s look and layout and encouraged residents to keep copies as a summer guide. "Please read it," he said. "We work really hard on it."
