Commissioners approve conditional use for Thompson family to resume egg production

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners approved application CUZ2025-02, a conditional-use request to allow the Thompson family to resume egg production at 2374 Pine Chapel Road.
Miss Brumlow of Brownlow Ford & Glassman, representing the Thomason/Thompson family, told the board the younger generation was seeking to bring “state-of-the-art” egg production back to the family’s property after a prior pause in on-site production. She presented a site drawing showing exhaust orientation and said the family has addressed permitting items such as septic and fire protection at the parcel.
Planning staff recommended approval, and the planning commission had voted 4–0 to approve the request. Vice Chair Cunningham moved to approve the conditional-use application; Commissioner Sutherland seconded the motion. The board called the roll and approved the application.
The approval allows the applicant to pursue the conditional-use permit subject to the conditions and permitting reviews cited by staff; no additional county budget action was attached to the vote.
