Council approves vacation of drainage and utility easement in Johnson Meadows

Isanti City Council voted unanimously to approve a developer’s request to vacate a drainage and utility easement in the Johnson Meadows development.
City staff explained the easement was originally placed to provide access to a storm pond when the parcel was an outlot. Carrington Development submitted the application to vacate that easement because side drainage and utility easements of 5 feet on each side will continue to provide the necessary access (10 feet total) to the storm pond.
A staff speaker said the item had been approved by the Planning Commission following a public hearing on May 20 and recommended the council adopt the resolution to vacate the easement. Council member Lundin moved approval; council member Heaman seconded, and the council voted 5-0 to approve.
The resolution removes the specific outlot easement but retains the side easements that staff said provide access for maintenance of the storm pond. No financial or rezoning changes were noted at the meeting.
