Staff presented a new color-coded report intended to track nonresidential property inquiries and show conversation status more clearly than a long log of calls and emails.
The report groups contacts by project and uses color coding to reduce apparent duplicate entries when multiple contacts relate to the same potential development. Staff said the approach helps identify frequency and status of inquiries. EDA members noted a noticeable number of manufacturing leads in April, which staff attributed to outreach by Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) and Greater MSP.
EDA members discussed how some DEED projects do not fit Dayton and that staff will only pursue projects they deem appropriate. No formal action was taken; the report will be tweaked and returned as staff refines the tracking format.
