Council corrects parking ordinance language for Isanti Parkway after clerical error

Isanti City Council on Tuesday approved an amendment to chapter 2.27 (parking and storage) to correct which side of Isanti Parkway is subject to a no-parking rule.
City staff told the council the ordinance previously approved in October contained a clerical error that listed the wrong side of Isanti Parkway. The intent, as discussed at the October hearing, was to prohibit parking on the side of the street with mailboxes (the north side) between Whiskey Road Northwest and Blossom Boulevard Northwest; signs had been installed on the opposite side and were removed pending correction.
A city staff member said, "those signs were taken down. Public works is installing them on the other side, on the mailbox side, and we do need to make that correction, but thought it was appropriate to bring it back to council so it can be formally approved for the correct language." The ordinance had been posted for the required 10 days prior to the vote.
Council member Lundin moved approval; Council member Peterson seconded. The council voted 5-0 to approve the corrected ordinance.
Council action was limited to fixing the clerical language; no additional changes to parking policy were discussed.
