The Little Falls City Council authorized staff May 19 to submit an OSHA safety grant application administered through the Minnesota Department of Labor seeking up to $10,000 to upgrade safety equipment for the city’s public works divisions.
Alex said the grant would fund replacement and upgrades for outdated or failing safety equipment and sensors across streets and parks, wastewater and water operations. He told the council the grant is for up to $10,000 and that the city departments would pay matching or remaining costs from their operational funds, which staff said have sufficient funding for the purchases.
Council member Lundberg moved to authorize submittal of the safety grant and Council member Meyer seconded; the council approved the authorization by voice vote. A council member asked whether grants exist to fund fencing around the city's reservoirs, and staff took note of the question for follow-up.
