EDA asks City Council to address sidewalk trip hazards near Jack’s store

Staff explained that city policy repairs differences in elevation greater than a quarter-inch within city jurisdiction, but some sidewalks (including the segment in front of Jack’s store) lie in Hennepin County’s jurisdiction. Staff said city-planned full sidewalk replacement is scheduled for 02/1931 for some sections, while county replacements are not expected within the next five years. EDA members raised liability concerns and urged a proactive approach instead of waiting for complaints.
EDA members agreed to forward the sidewalk issue to the council for direction and asked staff to report back on the council response before the next EDA meeting.
