Dayton resident raises concerns over proposed bike path that may take front-yard property

John Williams, a Dayton resident, told the Economic Development Authority that his home at 13620 North Diamond Lake Road would be “the most affected by this proposed bike path” and said, “It's anywhere from 10 to 30 feet.”
Williams told the board he and his wife are not opposed to city projects but are concerned about parking loss and would prefer compensation options other than cash. He said he had spoken with Mayor Zach Dowd and asked how the issue would be handled.
City staff told Williams the project is under review and that an alternate alignment is being explored that might avoid his property. Staff cautioned that land-rights acquisition problems for a crossing could also affect whether the project proceeds and asked for Williams’s contact information to follow up.
No action or commitment on compensation was taken during the meeting; staff said they would provide more details directly to Williams as the review continues.
