Butler Tech announces Middletown aviation center, plans to expand students and workforce training

Butler Tech officials introduced the new aviation center planned for the Middletown Regional Airport and asked the city for help increasing awareness and connecting local partners.
Adam Snotty, who will serve as principal when the Butler Tech aviation center opens in early 2026, told the council the program intends to increase annual enrollment from roughly 50 students in prior years to about 75 this year and “closer to a hundred” next year, with a two-to-three year target to scale further as the new facility opens.
“We intend to establish a long term foothold in the city of Middletown ... to generate a far more highly skilled workforce in this city and in this area,” Snotty said, adding the center could spur local economic development in Butler County and Southwest Ohio.
Snotty asked councilors to help in two ways: by raising awareness of the new center across the community and by helping him connect with individuals, groups and organizations that could collaborate on student opportunities and civic benefits. Council members thanked him and suggested he return for a short presentation at a future meeting to provide more details to council and staff.
No council action was required during the June 3 meeting; staff indicated follow-up would include scheduling a presentation to council and continued coordination with Butler Tech as the project advances.
