County HR reports staffing changes; long-time treasurer’s office employee to retire

The Pipestone County human resources director updated commissioners on staffing, recruitment and systems work on May 27 and announced the upcoming retirement of a long-serving treasurer’s office employee.
Human Resources reported two open positions: an administrative support specialist for the extension office and the county assessor position. The deputy treasurer job application period closed and HR said it would begin candidate interviews soon. HR announced an offer extended to Braxton Thompson for a full-time deputy sheriff position pending pre-employment screening.
HR highlighted recruitment steps including a new partnership with College Central Network to reach college students and recent graduates and increased use of social media posts on the county Facebook page. The department also said it is evaluating modern human-resources and payroll systems to replace an aging platform, with vendor demonstrations and peer benchmarking planned before a final recommendation.
HR recognized Pam Teets of the treasurer’s office for more than 32 years of service and said county staff planned a small recognition after the meeting. Commissioners thanked HR and noted the difficulty of replacing long-tenured staff.
