Morrison County proclaims May as Month of the Military Spouse, and recognizes Emergency Medical Services Week

The Morrison County Board of Commissioners adopted two ceremonial proclamations at its meeting: one proclaiming May as the Month of the Military Spouse and another naming the week of May 18–24, 2025, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week.
Chris Lundberg of the Veterans Service Office introduced the military-spouse proclamation, saying spouses “carry the brunt of all of the weight when the veteran or the soldier go away to a deployment” and thanked the board for recognizing their contributions. The proclamation text noted military spouses’ resilience and urged residents to honor their service.
Haley Deeth, operational supervisor with Mayo Clinic Health System, and Marion Larson, regional events coordinator, presented the EMS Week proclamation on behalf of the county public-safety community. Larson described the county’s first-responder network and said designating the week “is a fitting way to acknowledge the achievements and importance of emergency medical service providers.”
What the board did
- Motion and vote: Commissioner Winter moved to adopt the military-spouse proclamation; Commissioner Casper seconded. Commissioners voted by voice (“aye”) and the motion carried. Commissioners later moved and carried the EMS Week proclamation in similar fashion.
Why it matters
Both proclamations are symbolic recognitions that the county said would help raise public awareness for service-member families and for first responders’ lifesaving role. The EMS Week proclamation enumerated EMS team members—dispatchers, EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, nurses, physicians and others—and encouraged residents to appreciate local emergency-care resources.
