Morrison County Dairy Princesses introduce summer outreach, promote dairy education

Stacy Hapke, Morrison County Dairy Princess coordinator, introduced a group of county Dairy Princesses to the Morrison County Board of Commissioners and outlined the program's summer outreach plans, including classroom visits, appearances at elderly care sites and fair events.
"The main goal of our program is dairy promotion and dairy education," Hapke told the board, describing roughly 30 appearances planned during the summer and noting the county program gives young women experience before potential state-level competition.
Several princesses introduced themselves and described farm work and extracurricular activities. Josie Smooty said her family milks about 73 dairy cattle and asked the commissioners, "How many dairy farms are in Morrison County?" Other princesses described chores such as feeding calves and assisting with milking. Board members thanked the group, noted the role of young ambassadors in dairy promotion and invited them to appear at county fair events.
The group said they typically visit schools and nursing homes, participate in parades and make about 30 appearances over the summer; they encouraged residents to visit the malt wagon at county fair events. Commissioners posed lighthearted questions and took a group photo with the princesses.
