The Henry County Board of Supervisors voted on four rezoning applications at its May 27, 2025 meeting: three were approved and one was denied.
Lee Clark, director of planning and zoning, presented the four cases. The board approved a request from Steve R. Martin/Steve R. Martin's Family Properties, LLC to rezone approximately 8 acres at 3119 Stoneshoe Road in the Blackberry District from Agricultural (A-1) and Commercial (B-1) to Limited Industrial (I-2). Both staff and the Planning Commission had recommended approval; the board approved the rezoning 6–0.
The board approved a rezoning request for property at 1690 Crestview Drive (Blackberry District) from Suburban Residential to Agricultural A-1 to allow construction of a barn and keeping agricultural animals; the motion followed the Planning Commission and staff recommendation and passed 6–0.
A second rezoning in the Harriswood District at 334 Centerville Road moved approximately 11 acres from Suburban Residential to Agricultural A-1 to permit accessory buildings, a home occupation and potential agricultural animals; staff and the commission recommended approval and the board approved the request 6–0.
The board denied a rezoning request by William B. Wimmer for approximately 1.4 acres on the northeast side of Stones Dairy Road (across from Morningside Drive) that sought to change Mixed Residential zoning to "bridal residential district" (as stated in the staff report). Staff and the Planning Commission recommended denial on the grounds the existing Mixed Residential designation was appropriate; the board denied the rezoning 6–0.
All votes on the presented rezoning items were recorded as unanimous in favor of the staff or commission recommendations, according to the meeting transcript.
