The Madison Common Council Executive Committee unanimously adopted an amendment to the poet laureate recitation schedule for 2025 on June 3, restoring the previous practice of allowing the council president to approve schedule changes.
Karen, a council staff member, told the committee the change was before the committee because the Civic and Cultural Committee had approved the original schedule and the amendment would keep scheduling in line with how it had been done historically. “Going forward, we're gonna go back to what I have gathered is the way we used to do it, which is, president approval,” Karen said. The committee recorded no objections and the amendment was adopted.
The agenda item was presented as an administrative scheduling correction; no additional policy changes or budget impacts were discussed during the item.
