Organizers of a Relay for Life fundraiser told the Manteno Village Board about the 24th annual Ride for Life motorcycle run and asked for community support.
Nancy and John Kaufman said the event starts at the Manteno Sportsman's Club; registration opens at 9 a.m. and the first vehicle is scheduled to depart at 11:30 a.m. The ride typically covers a route close to 100 miles with multiple stops in area communities and returns to the Manteno Sportsman's Club for dinner from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by drawings and a live auction.
Organizers said the event has strong community participation, with past peak ridership near 900 motorcycles and more than $1 million raised for the region in a previous year. They asked residents to watch for the procession on Main Street when the ride departs and thanked the police and fire departments for providing escorts.
Ending: The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 7; residents were invited to attend the ride, the dinner and post-ride auction and to watch the procession on Main Street when participants depart.
