The Manteno Village Board approved the purchase of a safety arrow impact trailer for the Public Works Department at a cost of $13,003.56, including shipping.
Public Works staff explained the trailer is a 45-mph rated arrow board with a crash bumper used to protect crews working on busy roads such as Route 50 and Division Street. The board heard the trailer will replace a smaller arrow mounted on the back of a pickup and provide greater protection during maintenance tasks, holiday light work and other roadside activities.
Trustees approved the purchase as part of the consent agenda after the public works committee discussed the need for safer roadside equipment.
Ending: The trailer purchase was authorized and staff indicated it will be added to the Public Works fleet for immediate use in work zones.
