Forest Park councilmembers announce county services center, transit launch and summer events

Councilmembers on June 2 reported several community services and summer events for Forest Park residents, including the arrival of Hamilton County offices to a new location and a transit service launch.
Councilmember Adams said Hamilton County will occupy space at 525 Northland Boulevard to house emergency management, the 513 relief bus program and job and family services, and that the county will hold an open house on June 27 (time to be announced). Adams asked the council to consider a city welcome for the county offices.
Councilmember Clark and others announced that the Metro Now bus service for Forest Park and Pleasant Ridge will launch June 6 with an event in the Kroger parking lot from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., including activities and free food giveaways; fares within the zone will be $2. Public Works Director Scott Volkowski reminded residents that chipper week is under way for yard limb collection, that beautification judging will occur in June (residential judging only) and that a Party in the Park event is scheduled for June 10 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Mayor Holt and staff encouraged residents to check forestpark.org for full event listings and to sign up for e-news for updates. The city also noted work on a new digital sign footer scheduled to start next week. No formal council action was taken on these items; they were provided as informational reports to the council.
