Villa Rica proclaims July 2025 as Parks and Recreation Month, honors long‑time staff and volunteers

Tracy Ivy, Villa Rica’s parks and recreation director, asked the City Council to proclaim July 2025 as Parks and Recreation Month in recognition of the department’s programs, staff and volunteers.
Ivy told the council the annual National Recreation and Park Association observance highlights how parks and recreation professionals support community health, social connections and environmental benefits. “My recommendation today is to proclaim that July 2025 is Parks and Recreation Month in the city of Villa Rica,” she said.
Ivy used the opportunity to thank long-serving staff and volunteers, noting that Tara Ivy and Barry (known to many as Bear Evans) each marked 25 years of service and that new instructor Amberley Nally recently returned to work with the city after operating a private gymnastics center. She also recognized maintenance crews, recreation programmers, senior-center staff and seasonal workers who staff programs and fields nights and weekends.
Ending: The council adopted the proclamation on the consent calendar, and the mayor and council took photos with the parks and recreation staff who attended the meeting.
