Mayor Holt said the police station roof has exceeded its useful life, requires frequent repairs after heavy rain and that replacing the remainder of the roof while the lobby expansion is underway offers coordination and warranty advantages. "It is recommended to proceed with a change order through Triton Services for $184,485.00. And with that, I urge adoption," Mayor Holt said.
Councilmember Clark voted no; Councilmembers Adams, Brown, Moore and Sylvester voted yes. The council discussed that the general contractor obtained quotes to complete the rest of the roof at the same time the expansion roof work is underway, and the lowest bid came from the same subcontractor handling the expansion roof, which the administration said would provide cost and coordination efficiencies and streamlined warranty coverage.
The resolution authorizes the change order to Triton Services for $184,485 and moves the police lobby expansion contract scope to include the remainder of the roof work. No additional timeline for completion was provided during the meeting.
The resolution passed 5-1 and will be reflected in the project change-order paperwork for the police lobby expansion contract.
