The Village of Brown Deer Board of Trustees approved a new volunteer boards, commissions and committees handbook on June 2.
Clerk Haley (intern referenced) and staff drafted the handbook as a reference guide addressing guidelines, responsibilities, and open‑records and meeting procedures; the village attorney and department heads reviewed the document before it was recommended for board approval. The clerk said paper and electronic copies will be available and that staff will provide the handbook to new members; a video orientation remains part of the onboarding process for new volunteers.
Trustees approved the handbook by motion. Trustee Green moved to approve and Trustee Consent seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The board asked that staff consider posting the handbook on the village website’s committee pages so volunteers can easily retrieve it.
