BORGER, Texas — The Borger City Council on June 30 approved an interlocal agreement with the Borger Independent School District to fund six school resource officers for city schools.
City staff said the contract covers one officer for each campus, including the Spring Creek special program campus, and that the agreement is largely unchanged from the prior year. Mr. Spradlin, a city staff member who presented the item, said the total contract for the six officers is $599,444 and that “the school district will be covering [about] $449,583, and the city will then be responsible for the remaining $149,861.”
The contract, officials said, does not include a one-time $35,000 vehicle purchase that appeared in last year’s agreement because no new vehicle is being added this year. It does include anticipated increases tied to health insurance and TMRS contributions. Mr. Spradlin described the arrangement as continuing a long-standing partnership: “As of right now, this is fairly identical to last year's contract for 6 officers.”
Council members moved and seconded a motion to approve the interlocal agreement; a voice vote was taken and the motion passed. No roll-call vote totals were provided in the meeting record.
