Council member Anne, who represents Parker on the Douglas County Housing Partnership board, told the council Thursday that the partnership has advanced projects totaling 1,720 affordable housing units across Douglas County.
"We have completed and they're currently leased 242 units to help with affordable. And under construction, we have 385 units that are currently under construction," Council member Anne said, and added that 51 units are in predevelopment while 942 units remain in discussion. "So altogether, that is 1,720 affordable housing units."
Anne said the partnership pools funds from multiple jurisdictions in Douglas County to stretch local resources and support projects that a single jurisdiction might not be able to do alone. She cited Unity on Park in Castle Rock as a project under the partnership that provides housing for the IDD (intellectual and developmental disabilities) community.
The council discussion was informational; Anne did not request immediate council action on Parker-specific funding in the remarks reported at the meeting. Details about financing sources, timelines for the projects cited and which parcels are affected were not specified during her report.
Council members thanked Anne and noted the countywide collaboration aims to extend local dollars and increase housing supply across jurisdictions.
